India, the name is derived from sanskrit word Sindhu which is known as Indus, the local appellation for the Indus river. In hindi language India is also known as “Bharat” a country located in the South Asia, a peninsular country,  the biggest democracy of the world, the seventh largest country of the world on geographical area basis, world’s second largest in population with over 1.18 billion people.

India, a home of the ancient Indus valley civilization and also the region of ancient historic and long staid vast empires. The epicentre of four world’s major religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.

The country annexed by the British East India Company during the early 18th century and colonised by the United Kingdom from the mid 19th century and got independence on 15th August 1947 after a long independence struggle led by many revolutionary and non revolutionary leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and many more.

India is a federal constitutional republic with a parliamentary democracy. The economy of India is the eleventh largest in the world which has the third largest standing armed force in the world
